Practical Guidance
When distributing your Zakat:
- You can give to one or multiple categories based on need in your community.
- Local giving is often prioritized, but global giving is permissible.
- Verify that organizations are transparent about using funds for Zakat-eligible purposes.
- Keep records of your Zakat payments for your own tracking.
Finding Zakat-Eligible Organizations
Many established Muslim charities accept and distribute Zakat. Look for organizations that:
- Clearly separate Zakat funds from general donations.
- Specify which recipient categories they serve.
- Provide transparency reports and financial audits.
- Have scholarly oversight for Zakat distribution.
Consider your local mosque, Islamic center, or community organizations that help those in need.
